The ADON, reporting to the Director of Nursing, supports the management of the nursing staff, coordinates employee onboarding and development to assess and meet educational needs, and performs in-services based on clinical observations and quality assurance data.
Collaborating with the Health Care Administrator, Director of Nursing, and the Medical Director, this individual will oversee and update the facility's Infection Prevention and Control Plan and serve as the coordinator of the Quality Assurance & Performance Improvement Committee.
The nurse serving in this role will maintain current knowledge of nursing home licensure and CMS regulations in order to perform clinical record audits of key indicators, analyze data and make recommendations for improving systems and procedures, and advise leadership of noted patterns.
RETENTION BONUS!This position offers a $7,500 retention bonus (paid out:
90 days $1,875; 6 months - $1,875; 12 months - $3,750).
To receive a retention bonus, you must still be employed at Williamsburg Landing in this role and cannot be working out a notice of resignation.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONSManagerial Responsibilities Serves as the Director of Nursing in the absence of the Director of Nursing Responsible with the DON for employee performance reviews for all nursing staff and responds to areas of opportunity identified through stay interviews Trains on the duties of the LPN and RN so that they can work in that capacity if the situation warrants it Infection Preventionist Collaborates with the Health Care Administrator, Director of Nursing and Medical Director to establish and periodically update an Infection Prevention and Control Plan (IPCP) to include policies, processes, and outcome surveillance Participates in specialized training required for the role of Infection Preventionist Serves as Infection Preventionist facility resource for training and education, surveillance, and compliance monitoring Generates reports for QAPI Committee and other leadership initiatives.
Completes infection control related sections of the monthly Care Operations Support meetings.
Develops and implements timely and appropriate interventions regarding early detection and management of potentially infectious/symptomatic residents at the time of admission; identifies and uses appropriate transmission-based precautions and ensures correct orders are in place and included in resident care plans When residents have an infection or are colonized and require transfer, ensures information is communicated to receiving provider including special instructions or precautions for ongoing care and other necessary information (discharge summary, disease diagnosis and health conditions, course of illness/treatment or therapy) In cases of communicable disease facility outbreak, coordinates implementation of appropriate interventions and precautions to prevent further transmission; records or coordinates the documentation of follow-up activity, and ensures facility compliance with state and local public health authority requirements for identification, reporting, and containing communicable diseases and outbreaks Coordinates infection control matters involving staff; utilizes established policy guidelines to evaluate employees with potential communicable infection; determines when exclusion from work or wearing a mask at work is necessary and approves return to work or discontinuance of mask Oversees facility immunization program Provides training and monitors compliance with policies and procedures for hand hygiene, isolation techniques, and other infection control practices Ensures clinical students and agency staff meet Williamsburg Landing's COVID 19 vaccination mandate QAPI Support Maintains current knowledge of nursing home licensure and CMS regulatory compliance Performs clinical record audits to determine compliance with established facility policies and procedures; monitors and audits facility-wide quality processes to determine compliance with regulatory guidelines and established facility policies and procedures Collects data and prepares statistical reports to illustrate facility performance related to key clinical indicators such as pressure ulcers and wounds, antibiotic stewardship, antipsychotic utilization, falls, weight changes, UTIs, restraints, and other at risk indicators Analyzes QA data and makes recommendations for improving systems, procedures, or individual's performance Advises facility leadership of noted patterns and trends that suggest persistent non-compliance Maintains the Incident logs as part of QAPI metrics reporting Serves as coordinator of facility QAPI Committee; schedules meetings, prepares agendas, transcribes minutes, and ensures appropriate follow-up to quality concerns Provides accurate and timely facility QA information to state licensure survey team and other external regulatory agencies as directed Serves as the point of contact for worker's compensation triaging; thoroughly and correctly completes required documentation for submission to Talent Management in a timely manner Serves in the managerial call rotation during the week and weekends to assist with after hour employee questions and staffing issues; if the staffing of either CNAs or Nurses is determined to be at a level which could potentially pose an unsafe environment for the residents or at the direction of the DON or Healthcare Administrator, will come in to work the needed shift in the capacity of a CNA or RN/LPN regardless of the day and shift; the parameters of an unsafe environment will be defined by the DON Performs other duties as assigned QUALIFICATIONS Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia, in good standing with the Board of Nursing Completion of specialized training (or ability to complete within six months of hire) in infection control and prevention Two or more years of experience in a long-term care setting experience, preferred Prior experience with MyUnity EMR system, preferred KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Strong clinical and assessment skills Proficient computer skills, including Word, Excel & Google Drive and ability to learn new software applications Ability to take initiative and demonstrate good judgment Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills to positively interact with residents Extensive knowledge of nursing best practices along with federal and state regulations Problem solving skills to overcome obstacles in delivering resident care and maintaining proper staffing Coaching skills to help staff continue their professional growth and improve performance Ability to regularly and safely lift a minimum of 35 pounds; ability to use a variety of health care equipment Ability to stand and walk for long periods BENEFITS Health, Dental & Vision Insurance FSA & HSA 403(b) RPI226512020 Recommended Skills Agenda Development Auditing Certified Nurse Practitioner Clinical Works Coaching And Mentoring Communication Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
