Williamsburg Landing, a CARF-accredited life plan community, seeks a highly qualified, experienced RN to serve as the community's Nurse Educator.
This position reports to the Chief Clinical Officer and is responsible for departmental functions related to staff development of nurses, certified nursing assistants and medication assistants for the licensed areas.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Coordinates onboarding for new employees; contributes to performance evaluation feedback; assesses educational needs and performs in-services based on clinical observations and quality assurance data based upon individual learning styles; provides education and competency reviews for staff; assists with staff training on electronic medical record (EMR) Advises appropriate clinical leadership of noted patterns and trends that suggest persistent non-compliance; provides one-to-one coaching for staff to address learning needs in all licensed areas Provides orientation for CNA/nursing students completing clinical instruction within the licensed areas Develops and implements annual competency tests/skills assessments for all licensed clinical staff Promotes awareness of legal issues related to nursing care; collaborates with management to promote and maintain standards related to documentation Maintains an education calendar to ensure core nursing competencies are covered annually and that C.
NA's and medication aides receive the required amount of education annually Is N95 fit test trained and responsible for annual fit testing of clinical staff Serves in the managerial call rotation during the week and weekends having lead responsibility with addressing both clinical and staff related matters; will work as appropriate in the capacity of a charge nurse (RN or LPN) or as a CNA as necessary if the parameters of an unsafe environment exist at the direction of the Healthcare Administrator Ensures all worker's compensation triaging and processing is thoroughly and correctly completed along with required documentation to be submitted to Talent Management in a timely manner Performs other duties as assigned QUALIFICATIONS Licensed Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia, in good standing with the Board of Nursing Strong clinical and assessment skills Proficient computer skills Certified CPR/First Aid instructor preferred or willingness to obtain within six (6) months Exhibited initiative and good judgment Prior experience with MyUnity EMR system preferred Three (3) years' experience in a long-term care setting experience with at least two years performing clinical education preferred KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Thorough knowledge and understanding of protocol, procedures, and standards within area of nursing expertise Ability to provide operational guidance and leadership to technical staff in area of specialty Knowledge of related accreditation and certification requirements Ability to assess educational needs and design and develop responsible curricula Working knowledge of the use of established care models in the development of education programs Technical leadership skills within area of expertise Highly developed verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present effectively to small and large groups Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively at all levels in a collaborative team environment BENEFITS Health, Dental & Vision Insurance FSA & HSA 403(b) Retirement Plan 529 College Savings Plan Long-Term Care Insurance Legal Resources Paid Time Off Holiday Pay Corporate Wellness Program Health Club & Spa Membership Employee Education & Training Fund Employee Assistance Program Credit Union Membership Williamsburg Landing is a non-profit, independent community offering a vibrant lifestyle for residents.
